Good afternoon all. New to this forum. I camped as a kid and into my tees with my parents. We started out with a 12X12 Sears wall tent, then worked our way into a 16' Yellowstone TT. When i was probably a Jr in HS, parents traded in the Yellowstone for an 18' Franklin which they had until 1976. In 72 i left home and joined the military spent 20years and retired in 1992. While stationed in Germany my parents bought a 32' Airstream which the eventually did two years worth of full time RVing before my dad got sick with Cancer. That ended my rv times, till just recently. My wife retired in 2019 and i resigned from the last 'busy' job that i had (i had retired from the State of CT DOT in 2016) a short while after. We made the big decision to sell our house and buy an RV and live in that full time. Right now we just have the tow vehicle, a 2020 GMC Serria Denali 3500 dually, with all the bells and whistles, while we are waiting for out 2021 Keystone Montana 3813MS to come in. Should be in very soon.

So thats a bit about us. We both are looking forward to being full time RVers and traveling when and where we want to.

Hope everyone is Healthy and Safe. Talk soon.

Chuck

Welcome! I went into the Army is 72 as well but by 1975, the military was getting kind of thin in decent places for my MOS and I decided to muster out. I had orders for Fort Bliss in the event I rotated home and didn't want to paint rocks until the next time we got into it with someone. I was stationed in the Far East. Sounds like you are raring to full time and don't be afraid to ask questions... saw the question about the brake controller compatibility but can't help (Ford guy and clunker trailer as well with drum brakes). There are a couple techs who haunt the forum who might be able to answer an arcane question of that sort. Please don't rely on your RV dealer as they will generally know less than you do.

Chuck, I figured I better jump in here and welcome you to the forum first, thank you for your service, and make it at least 3 to 2 in that my DW and both Marine Corps. (I thought maybe the Army was getting too far ahead!)
I second what George said. This is an entertaining forum, one of the best.

Greetings, Chuck, and welcome to you and your DW!

Once you pick up that gorgeous Montana, get out there and enjoy!

Be sure to post pictures, too.

Take care!

I still remember the induction center where we all stood in a gaggle (lines) and the big ol' Marine Sgt. came down each line and tapped fellas on the chest and said "Welcome to the MARINES", you are headed to Paris Island! I did my best to cross my eyes, look cowardly and have my shoulders slump and must have let a HUGE sigh of relief out when he passed me by. Guess the Marines were taking about a 1/4 of the would be military geniuses showing up in induction centers. Thanks for your wife's and your service.
