question on dewinterizing

So my 2019 Cougar has a hotter heater bypass valve.. I winterized early this winter, but now when i try to flip the witch back to take the hot water heater off bypass, I here it trying to gurgle like there is pressure mounting so I stopped doing it. Maybe because of pressure in the overall system using the pump to get the e antifreeze through the system? I just want to run clean water through everything and drain it good. Thoughts? Thanks!

Did you drain the water heater? If so then you need to refill it. The gurgling sound may be the water going into the tank. It will only gurgle for a few minutes unless you open a hot water faucet. Leave it open until you get water and no more air and you should be good to go.

If you didn’t drain the water heater, it should quit gurgling in a few seconds.

I'd recommend leaving the water heater in bypass, flush the trailer lines with clear water (that will prevent antifreeze from entering the water heater tank). Once the antifreeze is flushed out (don't forget the low point drains), then open the bypass valve to run water into the water heater. Allow the water heater to flush any dirt or grime out of the tank, then install the anode rod (don't forget the Teflon tape), fill the water heater tank, purge all the air at each faucet, then turn on the electric element, make sure the water is warming (about 10-15 minutes. Turn off the electric and turn on the propane to make sure it works, allow the cycle to complete to be sure the thermostat shuts down the propane and you're "good to go"...

ADDED: Don't wait until the electric element completes its cycle or you won't be able to test the propane until the water in the tank cools. That's why I wait only about 10-15 minutes, make sure the water is warming (proving the electric element is working) then complete with propane to make sure it's also working.
