Wow! That's ugly! I believe I would just take a saw to that molding at about a 45 degree angle and then just stain the exposed surfaces to match the cabinet.

Those are good suggestions ... and I have good carpentry skills ... just wondering if anyone else has tackled this particular issue.

I've got the same molding on the bottom of the credenza where our TV is located. Haven't had the "head knocking" issue yet, but I have considered removing the molding because of the sharp edges. On mine, it is a separate piece of molding (actually 3 pieces) that are just stapled to the bottom of the cabinet. You might want to double check to see if you can get a pry bar behind the molding from the back side, under the bottom of the cabinet...

It appears that my cabinet is finished under the "add on molding". As I said, I haven't removed it yet, but am considering it.

Head knocker cabinet

Thought you were going to talk about a Cougar 291RLS. Hated the stupid cabinet over the sink, anytime I helped the DW, I had at least three bumps on my forehead. The newer models used a different design, and i was planning on changing out the cabinet myself, but bought a new fiver instead

I have the same cabinet in my 16 Cougar 301SAB. I'll be working on a fix as well. Thanks to all for the information.

I think I'm headed this direction ... this is one from Lowes but I see many options out there ...

Will still require modifying the trim under the cabinet. Pry it off, cut it down and re-assemble with a soft corner.

Thanks for the help!

Here's what I ended up doing. Looks good to the DW ... and cushion is applied with double sided sticky tape. I hope it holds up in the heat. If not, I guess I could staple it in a couple spots.
