Hello, my name is Brendan. My wife and I just recently purchased our first camper. It is a used 2018 Keystone Springdale Summerland 2600TB. It is a 28 foot travel trailer bunk house floor plan with no slides. I will be pulling it with my 2016 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi.

We are extremely excited to start camping with our 7 and 4 year old little girls. I grew up camping and have missed it so much as I have not been in 15 years. I'm sure as I go over our camper more I will have lots of questions. I love to tinker with and fix things so I am actually excited for this part of owning a camper. I look forward to getting involved in this forum!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Unfortunately the temps have dropped here, so I am gonna have to winterize it before we get a chance to take it out. But that doesn't rule out a night in the driveway with the little ones!

First Trip

Well we decided last minute to de-winterize and take a quick trip to Gun Creek campground at Rend Lake (only about 1/2 hour from home). So glad we did! The weather was beautiful and so were the trees. The girls had a blast and are ready to go again!

Welcome from Virginia! You have a newer model of what I have! Mine is 2013. Love it! I'm quite happy with mine, and I'm sure you'll be happy with yours, too.

Enjoy and let us know how everything goes with your Summerland.

Welcome Bendan, Like LadyFaire, I have the same model as well, just a little older. Really happy with it. It's in bed for the winter but looking forward to April/May and hope the borders open up one day next year.

Ours is getting winterized in the next week or so. Thankfully, we've had a very MILD fall, thus far. If no one has suggested it (they had to tell me, as I didn't know) be sure to check the born-on date for your tires!! About the 1st thing I needed to do with ours! I think mine turned out to be the ORIGINAL tires!

Yeah my tires are original as well and by the date on them, they're coming up on 10 years so I think it'll be a new set for the new season. I'm probably living on borrowed time.

We bumped ours up a couple of classes. I didn't want 'good enough'. Hubby told me about Americans in Germany and the autobahn. I didn't realize tires were SPEED rated. I know, it has to do with the heat buildup from driving, so I wanted tires with a higher heat rating. Didn't even cost much more - about $15 per tire, and I made sure to replace the SPARE as well. Seriously thinking about getting a second spare tire, too. After all, if one tire on a side goes, the 2nd is likely to go as well. So 2 spares only makes sense to me.

OH, one more thing, traffic cones for the pass through tool/accessory area. I got a round dozen traffic cones on Amazon for not much at all! Had planned on using them to get DH accustomed to driving/towing the camper and for backing up lessons [grin].

Those pictures just brought back some fond memories. Your daughter with the training wheels did it. Ours was a used pop-up and we would go about 1/2 hour away to a state cg.

Now we spend the winters in the South at our daughters in our 5th wheel. Her husband put in a full h/u site with a concrete pad for us. And now we watch our grand daughter grow.

These are times you will cherish your whole life.

Life is Good.

Welcome and enjoy. Our first was a similarly equipped 1998 27' Salem. Pulled it for ten years.
