Operating Refrigerator when not level

I remember reading about needed to have the RV level to have frig operate properly. Is this on gas setting only? So if not quite level will it work ok on electric?

Thanks

It’s not about the power source, it’s about the evaporator coils inside and making sure water flows through the coil.

If you have a round bubble level, having the bubble halfway in the circle is as unlevel as you should be with the fridge running. And that’s pretty unlevel, to the point of it being annoying to walk around your trailer because the floor is sloped.

In other words, new fridges are more tolerant, but not to the extreme.

Your fridge operates on different chemistry than your home unit. It requires heat to move the gases around. That heat is supplied by propane or by electric.

So, regardless, the fridge should be reasonably level for normal operation. We have already discussed this several times so if you search, you'll find the details.

Be a bit careful though. Old fridges, say before 2003 or so, needed to be much more level than newer units. Didn't see your TT age, sorry.

Check your owner's manual. If you don't have it, I bet you can get it online... It will have a statement in it about off-level operation. The newer one's will say something to the effect of 3 degrees one direction and 6 degrees the other.

If, for some reason it can't be level, if you move it around fairly often it still works fine (this is what the dometic manual for the fridge in my old popup said). So if you are on the road and you park on a slope for a little while, no problem, because it takes a little while for the fluid to pool. (Adsorption coolers have both liquids and gas circulating in the coils).

My 2012 Dometic manual says that as long as it is comfortable to be in the trailer, it's level enough. I still level it, though.

I agree, it is the circulation by convection that requires that the unit be near level.
I have a bin of 1' chunks of 2X4 and two chunks of 2X6 about 3' long to lift the the low side wheels and to block any stabilizer that needs it.
