Adding a fireplace

Thinking about putting in an electric fireplace in my Cougar 30RKS for the shoulder seasons and when it isn't so nice.

I'd be putting it in the cabinet under the tv, but not really close to the tv.

Thinking of a 700 watt or so setup that Canadian Tire has on sale for $100 right now. I'd have figure out power and do some cabinet work to secure it, assuming the unit will fit. The cabinet is only 6" deep.

So, is this as simple as I think it could be?

GMcKenzie -

You are in luck! Though not the same Cougar model, Smitty did this upgrade and posted a very informative thread about the experience. Look at

The one Cdn Tire has on sale is too tall for my cabinet, but I think I'm going to keep looking as I don't use this storage space and it is a perfect spot for a fireplace.

Thanks for the links to other installs. Good info.

Absolutely love your fireplace, smabernethey! I see you're in VA Beach - can you tell us where you bought the fireplace? How difficult was it and how long did it take to install it? We are in the Richmond area but get to the Beach some.

fireplace 246rbs

picked up my new Bullet 246rbs TT 1st of oct. 2011 and first mod i did was install elect. 750/1500 watt fireplace, ordered online and installed by 10/10/2011. i installed it under the TV, used the cabinet doors to access ends of booths very handy had to raise shelf above were doors were approx 2inc., ran the cord up through the back of the cabinet to plug in were TV is plugged in, only place i could find a unit to fit depth wise was from the same supplier used by big lots, the only negative thing is it does not have a thermostat i use the 750 watt setting most of the time and set my gas heater at 60 when in the low 30's outside and gas hardly ever comes on. don't want to bore everyone with to many details so if anyone needs info and pictures please feel free to send me a PM. happy camping Phil

Can you send me the make and model? I couldn't find it on their website. I did find one at Northern Tool.

fireplace make and model

got my fireplace from FEBO international limited, Danville, ca. 877-355-3326 ordered mine online@ www.febointernational.com model #F2308E about 100 bucks, i think? including remote and 110v regular plug in cord, and it works quite well and looks good too, it's the only one i could find that would fit depth wise, in my cabinet that has the T.V. and stereo system, i removed the bottom cabinet doors, then the shelf above the doors with shelf supports installed fireplace then reinstalled the shelf, the fireplace just fits side to side 30 inches. i ran the cord up through the same harness that the tv plug goes and plug it in there. easy job took about 2hrs. Phil
