Got the green light from my DW to upgrade my truck. Took full advantage and moved up to a 2011 Silverado 2500 HD LTZ diesel. Former TV was a 4.8 v8 silverado (2010) which was ok but was a real fair weather tow vehicle.

Very excited about the upgrade!

Not sure what you're towing, but it'll be like night & day. You'll probably be looking back to be sure the trailers still there the first few times out. Its nice to have plenty of truck.

With the impressive gas mileage some people are getting from an unloaded diesel, one may be in my distant future. And then a fiver to go with it.

Thanks! Pulling a 2013 Passport 238ML. Rated at 5500 lbs gross. Hoping this truck will carry us many miles and TTs into the future.

Congrat's on the new TV. As a died in the wool Ford guy, I'll tell you if you are a GM kind of guy, you will love towing wihtthe new rig. For anything heavery than 5K, I owudl definitely go deisel. I've done the heavy tow with a gasser thing for years and the difference between a 3/4 ton TV with a diesel and a 1/2 tom with a gasser is huge!

You won't be sorry. I recomend you get a guage tuner or at least a monitor to watch EGT (exhuast gas temps) and a few other thigns and definitely (I know this is going to start a flame war but...) let the truck cool down at idle after towing. My Edde tuners both have a sutdwon feature to shut the engine off after keys reomved at 400 degress which will save a turbo rebuild or 2.

Enjoy!!

Yep you will need bigger mirrors to be sure the TT is back there, that is half of what I tow with an 01 Cummins!

Sorry forgot Congratulations on the new TV, it will make the experience relaxing!

Last year I bought a new 2012 2500 HD LT. Every since I have been kicking myself for not spending the extra cash and getting a LTZ instead. Can't get the OK from my DW to make a trade. Can I barrow your wife just long enough to get the "Green Light"? LOL.....I promise I'll give her right back as soon as the LTZ is in the driveway. Please, Please...PLEASE!

Oh.......Congrats on the new truck. You will love it.
