Fort Desoto Park

Does anybody have any experience with being able to get a walk-up site at Fort Desoto?

No reservations available but limited walk up sites are saved..the park ranger advises to get in line at the office no later than 10 pm on Thursday night and hang out until the following morning. This will be for the Memorial Day weekend.

Has anybody had any luck getting in line and being able to get a spot?

Thanks in advance.

Those walk up sites go fast.

Last time I was there the line was really long, so I am sure getting there Thursday night is a good idea, but you are waiting outside the entrance.

Another thing to ask, are any of the walk up sites big enough for your RV.
I don't know what you have but better ask that question before sitting in that line!

I asked them about the size of the spots and they said all of the RV spots are plenty big enough for my 34' rig.

I haven't decided yet if I want to sit outside all night for the "possibility" of getting a site.
