Propane hose connection

Do I need a propane regulator on my propane grill if I connect to the outside propane gas line?

If you're refrencing a LP quick release connected to the main gas linebthen no. That gas line is downstream of the trailer regulator. If the grill has a regulator it will have to be removed to worknon that gas line.

LP coming directly from a tank is high pressure and would need to be regulated.

LP coming from a quick connect on your trailer is already regulated to so anything coming from the quick connect would not require a regulator. Most grills and firepits have them on the factory line so you would need to remove the regulator.

I'm a complete propane rookie myself, but will be looking to get a little griddle/burner when they come back in season. Are you saying that all I need is a quick-connect straight hose going from the stub on the side of the camper to the griddle, with no extra bits?

Correct, straight hose. Quick connect on one side and a 3/8 or 5/8 female fitting on the other side. (whatever mates to your particular grill)
