Slide Maintance

I have been keeping tabs on slide cable shuddering . I started thinking just maybe the problem is inside where the carpet is. Shure enough the carpet is braking down leaving a lot of grit on the floor rail where the slide sits. I cleaned that good and and used a Teflon spray under the carpet reaching the slider rail. I trying to think of something that will keep the carpet from flaking away .
