Michelin Defender 275-65-20

Any of you guys run these on your tow vehicle? I was looking at the Michelin LTX AT2 that is OEM on some new F250's but I read that it has marginal at best tread life. This new Defender in the above size is E rated, 3750 lbs @ 80 psi. has gotten very good reviews......anyone?

We have Michelins LT275/65R20 on our F350 and are replacing them with the Defender LTX. We have had such good luck with Michelins we replaced the OE chinese bombs with Michelin LT as well.

All we use are Michelin LTX on all of our vehicles, have never had any issues.

We have 56K on our Michelin LTX LT275/65R20 on our F350. Off hand I would say we are good to about 70-75K. Fairly good with us towing a lot.

I've had the Defender's on the wife's Volvo XC70 for a few years. Good wear, handling, smooth ride and grip. That car only gets Michelin's. Maybe too conservative a tread pattern for my Ram's needs, but if you stay on the highway primarily, they should do the trick.

New tires on my Ram tomorrow, and they aren't Michelin. I know, blasphemous. Discount Tire with Walmart advertised pricing.

Geeeez, it's been so long I forgot that I'd posed the question..... thanks for the replys. My financials have finally got squared away so Monday I'll be ordering a new '16 F350 King Ranch dually "Tow Boss" as they used to be called. It has the F450 wide front axle and bigger springs, 4.30 gears, big fender flares......and yes I know it's overkill for a 35" 5th wheel but I'd rather be too big that too small.

We still have our old trusty '02 F250 that has been just about bullet proof but struggles a little pulling the 5th wheel. It has the Pacbrake exhaust retarder and a bunch of good stuff but after 14 yrs. I would like a new truck.

That brings me to why I was asking about the Michelins, I'll be selling the stock 17" wheels and tires back to the dealer and replacing them with American Eagle 20 x 7.5" wheels and Michelin 275-65-20 tires. I think now since I posted the question the LTX Defender MS is the way to go, same 3750 E rated tire and would most likely be a better fit for the road than the AT model.

Why am I doing this?? I just like the look of the bigger tire/wheel package filling up the fender wells and the 34.2" diam. will help tone down the rpm's with the 4.30 gears. Anywho, thanks again for the replys.....Dave

Do you have a way to adjust the computer/ABS for the different size tires so the speedo and odo are correct?

I don't but since the 275-65-20's come stock on the SRW trucks the dealer said they can reset whatever has to be reset to make all good again.

The dealer can go into the computer via the OBD port and change the setting.
