I screwed up and could use some help with my brake controller.

What a bonehead move. The previous owner never towed anything with the 07 Chevy Silverado 2500 Duramax I recently bought. I plugged in the wiring harness that came with the truck under the dash to connect the controller I had bought(instead of buying the plug and play harness) and seeing that the harness was much longer than I needed, I took my dykes and cut the wires. It immediately sparked when I cut it and now there is no power to any of the pins where the harness plugs in. I haven't been able to figure out which fuse supplies the power.

Check the square maxi fuses in the underhood fuse center.

X2, as you were cutting through the powered cable your cutters shorted out the wires. Hopefully those leads you shorted are fused. As stated check fuses. Good Luck

Check the fuse box under the hood, trace back the extra red power wires that are connected the lugs inside the fuse box to try to narrow down the blown fuses. Might also be some inside the truck as well.

If you find the fuse box under the hood, when you uncover it, there are (or might be, not sure how a 2500 is setup) a couple of handle looking things on each side that look like you can disconnect the whole block from the truck or something. You do NOT want to do this. So just be careful. On mine, sometimes when lifting the cover off it will start to lift these handle things up...so I press them back down again. I think my cover gets caught on them or something.

Interesting you had this happen, I was just talking to my step son about a similar possibility with some wiring on his bike. Told him what happens is sometimes your tired or you get in a hurry or both and just say "hey I'll cut these wires in one shot" and some of those are live and ground wires. He was thinking of making a harness shorter but if he had to do something later on, he would have to cut the wires. I told him just leave them long, so its easier to work with in the future...

In my truck it is a blue wire that feeds power. I had to remove the fender brace and did have to pull the entire fuse cover to find the blue wire. No problems getting the cover off. I had no luck tracing the blue wire as it disappears into the rats nest of wiring going into the fuse box. The inside of the fuse cover doesn't identify a brake controller fuse so I will look in the manual. Hopefully it will have a more detailed list. The bigger block type fuses don't have a way to test them that I'm aware of, just the visual look from the top to make sure the loop is connected.

I would just start checking each fuse one at a time then and go from there. Maybe check alldata diy for info as well.

I went out and got the manual out of the truck and went through the fuse section and there it was. Even though I had looked at it before, after re-examination, the fuse was blown. It was a block style 30 amp fuse.
