Hydraulic Bedroom Slide Issue

I have a 2011 Fuzion Toy Hauler that has given us very few problems until this weekend. When we slid the bedroom in it came in at an angle so we stopped immediately and reversed the slide action. After checking for obstructions and finding nothing we again attempted to slide the bedroom in. We could hear the pump running but the bed did not move. Called Keystone and the dealership. Believe me when I say there is no way to manually retract a hydraulic actuated bedroom slide out. Contacted a local RV service dealer, the bed was taken apart and we discovered that the hydraulic unit attachment to the slide out wall had pulled free from the OSB in the slide out wall. The pump was running and the steel attachment bar was moving freely. We ran the attachment bar all the way in, pushed the slide out in by hand and wedged two cut 2X6 boards in to keep it from sliding out while we returned home. When I contacted my dealership about repair they said yes, in fact they had just done another Keystone a few months ago, same problem. That got me thinking that this may be a latent issue that does not reveal itself until after a few years of wear so I am wondering how many other Keystone owners have had the same experience. For the life of me I cannot understand why the manufacture would use OSB in an outside wall that would be getting that kind of stress anyway. Before anyone asks, could it have gotten wet? Maybe after three years but this is a sealed wall and I have had no problem with moisture in the bedroom ever.

On our 2009 Raptor, there were obvious signs of water damage to the OSB along the outer edge that were visible once I pulled the bed out. It was a small, slow leak, so the damage was hidden until the bed was removed.

Our first clue that there was a problem was the slide coming in crooked, just like yours.

Guess I am glad that they went away from hydraulic in the bedroom slide. Ours is electric and is easy enough to get to above the bed.

That settles it, too many potential problems with these high dollar multiple slide units, I'm selling mine, buying a topper, and putting an air mattress in the bed of my truck. Okay, I doubt the DW will allow that. It just amazes me the range of issues that pop up on RVs, seems like every time you go out you just wait to see what problem will show it's ugly head this time.

Just like a boat... The two happiest days in a boat owners life are the day he buys it and the day he sells it... RV's ??? My experience is that they are too much like boats to not expect the same "joy" when I sell it

Oh how I loved my boat and I'm so happy I don't have it anymore. I wonder if that goes for ATVs too...my wife keeps trying to talk me into selling them. I just can't when I think about hunting elk up at 10,000 feet. That one week every year seems to be worth keeping it.

I've got an Arctic Cat 650 and a RZR 800, so I can also relate to the "need" to at least keep one. The RZR really makes getting big game out of the woods much easier. The older I get the more I like having it along... Well, with an ATV and a modified UTV, I simply can't decide, so I suppose they'll both be in the pole barn beside the boat and the fifth wheel this winter.... Hmmmmm

Yeah, I went cheap, Arctic Cat 400 and Grizzly 350. Makes it easier to keep them since the price I get back won't go far. Especially since they're both a 2006. Dang, I can't believe they're that old already, they're like new.

I know what you mean, the big bucks you pay for these things and the crap quality and workmanship you get is ridiculous, just wish someone would step up to the plate and build something worth while, no matter what you pay it is all the same junk, if you use them you will also have to work on them to keep things going...

We use to pull horse trailers around, no problems with them, very frustrating to pull an RV around and have to worry if it will hold up behind you...
