Pacifica, CA to Santa Rosa, CA

We've got an upcoming trip that will take us from the San Francisco RV Resort in Pacifica to another resort near Santa Rosa. We're pulling a 260FL travel trailer.

I used the Good Sam site to help route the trip and the directions have us taking I-380 and I-280 to the 101, going over the Golden Gate Bridge.

Needless to say, I am slightly panicked. Has anyone traveled this way? Are there any other recommended routes?

Laura

If crossing the Golden Gate is the issue, you could go up the east side of the bay (880) then cross the San Rafael bridge which connects you to the 101 near the prison. Still a bridge, but it doesn't sway in the wind. A year ago, there was quite a bit of construction in the area

Thanks for your response. =). For some reason, it feels weird that we're recommended to cross the Golden Gate. Living in California most of my life, I've never crossed it. Looks like my first time will be with trailer in tow. I suppose this just adds to the adventure!

I've walked and driven across that bridge, but not towed. My biggest concern would be getting distracted by the view. Otherwise, not a big deal. It's a road. But here's some helpful info, including the speed limit of 45:

Just thought I'd post an update regarding our bridge adventure.

While in Pacifica, we asked for suggestions from the camp host. We were advised that Highway 1 was a more direct route through San Francisco and onto the Golden Gate so that's the route we decided to take.

The city streets were a bit narrow, but the signage to the bridge was spot on. We stayed in the middle lane and had no trouble getting to the bridge. Once on the bridge we did have to stay in the wider curbside lane. (Thanks for that info, f6bits!) We then continued north on Highway 101 with a slight headwind, but beautiful scenery.
