Fresh water cutoff valve

My water pump repair adventures led me to some discoveries and modifications. I realized a manufacturer error when filling my potable water. I was getting water pump air choking. I finally got under and removed underbelly bolts & cut a 1 ½ foot section under my axle where my 1st fresh water tank connections where. I lifted the underbelly from loosened bolts to access the second tank. My discovery was that the 4-wires for filling detection is only the 1st tank & not the second. I called keystone customer service and discussed in the filling process that the first tank will fill first before the second. The rep agreed and after discussion came up with installing a shutoff valve by the water pump. This has 2 benefits. If you wanted a lighter haul or had a shorter weekend trip. You could fill right to the full indicator and use the shutoff valve to cut off water to the second and eliminate any air suction problem. To accomplish this the tee split needs to be removed from underneath the 1st tank. I connected 2 ‘homerun’ hoses to each tank. I installed a quality cutoff valve on the second hose near the water pump (pictured) and re-teed the distribution from the main intake to the pump. So now it’s possible to haul half fresh water without completely filling and half draining each tank! In addition, it would also be possible to add extra toy weight in the garage!

Nicely done!

Now you have me wondering if our rig has one 60 gallon FW tank or two 30's.
