Changing Tires

Just wanted to ask about changing tires on a Carbon toy hauler. Looked over searches and only found higher end toy haulers. Has anybody went to a larger size than stock?
I currently have 235/80r16 Trailer King tires. I want to change to a 235/85r16 load range F. I found Carlisle on sale at local tire store and would like to purchase them. (load range F) I currently have approximately 4" clearance from tire to trailer (unloaded weight) I know the Raptors come stock with 236/85r16. Are the frames different? Are the clearances different?
Just looking for a little help from the pro's with experience!
Thank you for your time!

Changing Tires

My Montana 3720RL came with the same tires. I changed to the 85s with Sailun S637. No issues and love the tires.

Lots of threads about tires lately, especially Carlisle, tire size, rim size, and clearance issues. Do a search for lot of info.

I just replaced mine. My Raptor came with 80s. I would have liked to go to 85s. I had enough between tires, I had barely 4" on one side and not barely 3" on the other due to the slide. The Carlisle 85s are an inch more in diameter than the 80s, BOTH LRE AND LRF. That would have left me less than 2-1/2" on the one side. Didn't want to chance that. Others have stated putting 85s on with no problem. As I posted in another recent thread, measure YOUR RIG, and measure BOTH sides, and then measure again. There is no common clearance from model to model or year to year of the same model. Don't just take another posters word that they did it with no problem. My tire guy said he would have talked me out of putting 85s on after he saw the clearance on the one side.

If you decide on Carlisle, check the WalMart price. Discount Tire will honor it. $77 instead of Discounts $120.

Thanks for the heads up on the Walmart price. That's a pretty good price on tires! We have a local store within 10 miles.
I was looking to see how many toy hauler people may have up-graded to a larger tire. It looks like I may have room to do this, just not sure of the travel required between tire and trailer.
I have looked all over for a higher load range tire to match my stock ones. Have found a few, but there not a popular brand that everybody posts about. Don't want to end up with the same poorly made tire. Seems like the popular size is 85's. They are also less money as well! (At least in this area)
Thanks to all who have replied!

Last check the 80s were $77, the 85s were higher, unless that has recently changed. I paid $77 with free shipping to the store.

80s in LRF don't exist, at least not Carlisle. You have to go to the 85s to get a LRF.
