Central Utah to Loveland, Co.
Howdy All;
Some of you may remember that I just traveled from Mt. Pleasant, Ut. (dang near dead center in the State), to Loveland, Co. to get some skirting (fabric), for my 5er.
I had 2 choises;
A.) Drop South on US-89, to I-70 East to Denver, Co. go North to Loveland, Co.
B.) Go North on 89 to SR-116 W to Nephi, (had to get some fresh tires under the 5er.), Then North on I-15 to Provo, take US-189 N up to Heber City, then US-40 to Park City, Turn onto I-80 East thru to Laramie, Wy. I took the exit for Walcott, Wy. (US-30), as the overhead signboard said "HIGH WINDS".
In Wyoming when they say High Winds they mean it!!! US-30 is somewhat sheltered by some hills. Truckers will tell you if there is no wind ya ain't in Wyoming.
From Laramie, I took US-287 South to Ft. Collins, Co. (Wind again), where I grabbed SR-14 East to I-25 South to Loveland, Co.
Only 50 miles further Would have been closer if I had not taken the path of lesser wind. Maybe only 20 or 30 miles different. Also no tunnel (The Ike on I-70), none of the steep grades (easier on the TV). The scenery may not be as spectactular it's still pretty.
Hope this is something like you were looking for Mod.
