Dometic Thermostat

Dometic Thermostat

I have a Dometic thermostat which has about 10 degree of differential. I would like to change it for a digital one, preferably programmable.

I have looked things over, and there is a 7.5 volts terminal on it, anyone knows where it’s coming from.

Any replacement thermostat suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

It comes from the control board in your ac unit. I don't know if the Dometic digital thermostat is 7.5 or 12 volts. If you need 12 volts, there is a 12v lead to the relay control board. Do a search online of wiring diagrams for Dometic rv thermostats.

I have searched and found (mostly this forum) that a lot of people use a battery operated unit so that they wont have to find one that matches the input voltage. I personally used my household Lux t-stat that is battery operated and programmable and it works great. Although it does not have the capability of the hi/low fan operation, it doesn't bother me at all since I only used the fan in the high speed.

I had a crappy Coleman Mach (I think) in my last TT, a KZ Spree. I replaced it with a digital non-programmable Hunter. A quick internet search gave me all the necessary wiring info and it was a quick, painless update.

To Sherwood's point I did not have the option for high/low speed either so I just wired to high as that was most important. However, I do recall seeing a post on RV.net where somebody put a separate toggle switch next to the stat to switch between high and low fan speeds. Overall, if you have a low quality stat this is one of the first mods I would do.

Dometic makes a digital thermostat that is wired up just like the stock one. Black or white. More money that a battery operated unit but works every time! Chino

Funny you should be interested in doing this. I just replaced mine today with a Honeywell.

Here is the info site : http://rvroadtrip.us/library/digital_thermostat.php

Here is the thermostat I order from Amazon. :

Did that exact change a year and a half ago and it worked great. Same instruction and same stat being a primer member saved even more. Have since stepped up a notch in trailers but was sure an easy fix to the problem.
