If you have a faulty wire between the awning control switch and the awning motor, I can't imagine it would take 8 hours to pull a new wire through to the awning. Did the dealer run a different temporary wire directly from the switch to the awning motor (out the door) first to confirm that the factory wire is bad?
When my rig was new, I had a faulty relay that caused my awning to work intermittently. The relay is located in the wall cavity behind the switch. I too thought the wiring was bad. I was able to confirm the relay was bad by using a jumper wire and bypassing the relay. It was an easy fix, in which my dealer provided me a new relay.
Fyi - Thor does not make the awnings. Dometic does.
