2013 Keystone 331MKS - Keeping Mice Out

Hello, My wife and I just purchased our first fifth wheel and hauled it from Vermont to Maine only to put it up for winter. Any thoughts on keeping mice out? I put some mouse traps by the tires and a few moth balls around the outside. Hope this works.

Congrats on your new 5er, I have the same model too but it's a 2012. My best advise is to keep it super clean inside so there isn't any food source for the mice to investigate. Also, ensure the underside dosen't have in access points for them to get in too. I store my 5er in my driveway so I tend to go inside often to check around for leaks bugs and mice too. Good luck and have much joy with her.

I have tried this and it seems to work. Park it on a tarp. The mice crawl under the tarp and chew that up. I did this last year and had no mice problems. But there is a stray cat that looks as fat as i do so he maybe the reason:d:d also

Knock on wood...we're starting our second year with our 331MKS and no mice. I wish I could say the same for the crawl space of my house. We also winter our trailer beside our garage and are in and out throughout the winter. We have used Fresh Cab Mouse Rodent Repellent which contain balsam fir oil. We toss each sachet inside cabinets where waterlines penetrate the floor, scattered about near the corners of each slide, and a couple in the cargo storage area. The balsam fir oil smells much iced than the naphtha in moth balls.

We use chunks of Irish Spring soap. It's very strongly scented and mice don't seem to like it. We cut one bar into quarters and put them inside the storage compartments, in the cabinets, under and on top of the mattress. And we remove all food sources from the trailer during winter storage. Have not had any mouse problems in 10 years.

Wish I could say the same for the yard tractor wiring though.

If a mouse will eat it, do not store it in the RV.

We have used ultrasonics for over 12 years to keep mice out. Ultrasonic deterrer sits UNDER the TT in a Tupperware box with holes drilled it in so sound gets out, but snow doesn't get in. No mice yet in TT, but we watch foxes, owls, and once and eagle (wow) catch mice in our front yard. Mice are definitely around, just not inside house (except sometimes in messy garage) or TT.

Works for us.

mice can do more damage than you might think...and not having people food for them is only part of the solution...

My best friend has his TT on piece of property in N FL... about two years ago he had a severe issue with mice and they chewed out the wiring and insulation on his refrigerator...that was costly to say the least. Since then we have been religous on the use of Just One Bite poison. We place it in a piece of pvc pipe next to the concrete slab and we have yet to see another mouse (alive anyway lol). I also use it in my hunting camp in KY and it flat out works

Use a box of bounce sheets everywhere !! Also fill the gaps around pipes going from coach to under floors with steel wool and spray foam!!
