Easiest way is to look at your thermostat. As far as I know, it only has a HP option if you have the HP unit.

You do not list the year of your Cougar. I've looked at lots of 315s but not a 316. None of the 315s had a heat pump or the option. Keystone does not show a heat pump as an option for the 316. You could look at the manuals that came with the trailer, find the model of the roof unit and look it up, look at the thermostat to see if it even has an option for a heat pump and if it works etc. I am pretty sure you won't have one.

I think the only difference between a 315 and 316 is the fridge. So if a 315 didn’t have the option, a 316 wouldn’t either, but doesn’t hurt to verify.

The '13 model I had with 1 heat pump the thermostat had "cool, fan (hi/lo/auto), heat (gas/elec)", heat pump was the electric heat, it did not have "heat pump" listed on the tstat.

As you can see, there are different settings on thermostats, some will say electric, some will say HP. Just need to check your stat for one of them.

I can’t say I’ve seen a thermostat that said heat pump, only gas/electric heat. Not saying there isn’t one out there, I just haven’t seen one….yet.

I can't even remember what the Dometic that I had showed. I would recommend....just get a MicroAir!! It has a little snowflake for A/C, a little fireplace burner for the furnace and a little pump looking thing with a little flame in it and recirculating lines around it for heat pump...all in COLOR!!

Many say HP for heat pump. Even the smaller/newer style will say HP on them. Now you can’t say you haven’t seen one. Lol
