Which Surge Protector

So I am torn between which surge protector I should get. I think I've narrowed it down to the following.

Progressive Industries:
EMS - PT30C: I like that it is portable, but expensive
http://www.progressiveindustries.net/ems_pt30c.htm

EMS - HW30C: Less expensive but will require some work
http://www.progressiveindustries.net/ems_hw30c.htm

Surge Guard
30A Hardwire - Model 34520; Seems to cover more than any of the portable ones offered by Surge Guard
http://www.trci.net/products/surge-g...s/30a-hardwire

I ruled out the cheaper one by Progessive Industries and both portable by Surge Guard as they don't appear to offer as much protection. I'm curious as to here what current owners have to say about these. I am also looking to install the Marinco conversion kit so it may be more beneficial to do it all at one.

Thank you

I have the EMS HW30C. seems to work well. the only heads up is that it also checks for neutral-grnd connection. Fine when connecting to shore power, but most generator don't have neutral bonded to ground. you an bpass the check and still have surge protection, or make/wire plug for the generator that bonds neutral to ground.
AFAIK the PT30C and HW30C offer identical protection, HW is hardwired, PT is an external adapter.

Thumbs up

I also have the EMS HW30C. It's the greatest!!! It has protected us against too high voltage, too low voltage, and a mis-wired plug.

Since it's hardwired (easy to install) there is no need to worry about it being ripped off.

All that and the company is absolutely sterling when it comes to customer service, problems, etc.

Highly recommend
