used 2013 31bhpr

we are looking into this camper. Owners said the tow vehicle was totaled and thats why they are selling. manufacturer warranty until March 2014 and extended warranty available. We are upgrading from our pop up. I cant help but wonder that there is some other reason why they are selling this camper. The camper 'looks" brand new, even smells new. Am I missing something with this camper that it is known for, something bad?? Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks-
Suzanne

I would lean towards the story being correct or they purchased it and haven't used it at all or as much as they thought they would. From what I see locally people buy and then use it a couple times and then they sit in storage lots for long periods of time. Or maybe they are in financial trouble and could no longer afford it. It really could be a multitude of things and shouldn't be speculated on. I would head on over the the section on this forum with the pre delivery inspection checklist and print it off and take it with you and go over it all if you are serious about it.

I dont know your financial situation on how you are paying it wether it be outright or you are getting a loan. But if you are getting a loan I would highly consider looking at a dealer's lots for new ones as they have access to more banks and can get better apr's and payment options in most cases and even longer term loans.

Also as most know and say that the extended warranty usually doesn't cover a lot of problems you may encounter along the way but it is personal preference. In my opinion I would rather have the full year manufacturer warranty than a partial and then an aftermarket.

Also I don't know if this unit is a steal for the price or not but a lot of dealers are discounting the 2013's a lot to make way for the 14's that are coming in. So you might be able to make a great deal there and have dealer support too.

Good luck in your search!

In addition to all of the excellent comments made by TandE, I would also suggest that, if you are serious about buying this unit, you take along with you someone who is both knowledgeable about and experienced with RV's. Having had a pop up, you may not be as familiar with all of the systems in the bigger unit or know what to look for when doing your PDI. Hopefully, you can find someone to give you a hand with the inspection should you want to buy it.

x2 on the extended warranty. I'd save the money, set it aside for any future repairs you might have to make. You will still have 1 or 2 years left on the appliances from the manufacturers' own warranty.
