I have ordered a New Sydney Outback 340 FBH and want to replace the factory pin box with a Mor/ryde Pin box, Does anyone no what manufacturer keystone uses on the Sydney Outback 5er? I checked the Mor/Ryde site and they need the make and model, Thanks for any help. Mike

Many of Keystone's pin boxes are made by Lippert. The make and model number are printed on a self-stick tag found on the pin box. If you don't have access to the pin box, you should be able to find this information from your dealer.

Breadman

I have a 2011 Sydney Outback 329FBH; 36 ft fifth wheel. I "assume" you have the same pinbox, but you can use the info provided to help you:

Made by LIPPERT
1-866-524-7821

15,500 lbs rating

Item number: 207273

CSA: Z240.1.2- M99

I feel pretty confident they have not made any major changes for 2012 between your model and mine. I would start with a call to Lippert and go from there.

Not sure how they compare, but Lippert sells air suspension pin boxes on their website. Here's the URL for the site, Maybe it'll give you something to compare...

Trailair vs. Mor/ryde Pin Box Question

I had a Mor/ryde pin box on my 2009 Copper Canyon 5er wich i sold, Now i have the 2012 Sydney outback comming soon and have to purchase a new pin box, I had the parts man at a dealer say to me that if i went with a Mor/ryde instead of the Lippert and had frame or suspension problems it would void the warranty on the trailer and that this was something the manufacturer didnt want you to no. Has anyone heard or experienced this. I dont have a problem Staying with a Lippert Trailair if it works as nice as the Mor/Ryde, there both a $600 dollar bill, Also if anyone has a 11,k to 14k pin box that will replace the Standart Lippert 1621 pin box and are intrested in selling it please give me a shout. All your input is appreciated. My new 5er wont be here till mid-April so i have time to get this pinbox thing taken care of. Thanks Mike

From my experience with the 5th Airborne pin box, it not only reduces the chucking and bouncing of the TV but also makes for less stress on the 5th wheel as well. If anything, it improves the "ride" in both units and should create fewer, not more, problems with the suspension of the RV. True, it is a modification and may void your warranty if a problem should arise. Why not wait for a year then put on the new pin box --- you won't have to worry about your warranty being invalid.

The Trailair Rota-Flex pin box

I wanted to mention that my F-250 Ford PSD Has the Airlift 5000 air bags on it so i dont think i would need the high dollar trailair with the shock absorber & air biskuit, just wanted to no if the cheaper Lippert that says it takes away the chucking workes as well as the Mor/Ryde.

Hi Breadman that is very interesting about the warranty. My 2010 montana came with a factory installed "More Ride" hitch pin and suspenssion. Maybe if it has both they cover it who knows. I will say the ride is smoother and qiueter too! I think if keystone says it will void the warranty I would not install one till the year is up! No need to give them an out.

Sales Pitch on the Pin Box

I talked to a sales rep. at PPL wich is an RV parts distributor, i told him about the dealer mentioning to me that replaceing the lippert factory pin box with a Mor/Ryde would void the warranty should i have any frame issues, The rep at PPL said he never heard of such a thing. Im tired of the whole thing and told him to send me the Mor/Ryde graet price on sale $480.00 I had one on my last 5er and it worked great so why experiment with the trailair rite! Thanks for your imput on this subject everyone. happy at last

In my Keystone owner's manual (Chapter 1 - Warranty Information/ Warranty Exclusions), it states that: "Damage or loss caused in whole or in part by the unauthorized attachments, modifications or alterations to the structure, body, pin box or frame of the RV including but not limited to trailer hitches for towing........"
I assume that somewhere in your Owner's Manual you would find the same statement. So, unless you receive authorization from Keystone to remove the original Lippert pin box and install a MorRyde, your warranty would be invalid in case there was some problem with the frame, suspension or whatever.
The rep at PPL may never have heard of "such a thing" but it does exist in black and white. If you are happy with the MorRyde, it will in all likelyhood, work out well for you.
If the RV came from the factory with a MorRyde, that is another matter - unless you remove it and installed a Trail Air or some other pin box.
I also switched the pin box but it was after the 1 year warranty had expired.

Mor/ryde pin box

Just installed a Morryde pin box on my 2013 Laredo 335tg. What a difference in ride. Product does what it claims. Would highly recommend this as an affordable upgrade for comfort in pulling these heavy units. Stop and go jerking along with highway bucking were eliminated by 95%.
