239 ML black tank

I have heard that some TT's lavatory sink and/or shower empty into the black tank. Does anyone know if that's true and if so, which does the 239ML have?
2nd question. This is our 8th outing and have a terrible smell coming from the toilet (only when it's open/flushed). We've always used tank additives. The vent seems clear, what else can be the problem and how do we fix it?
Thanks in advance!

Do you have the fan on in the bathroom when you flush? Of you do it will pull the smell into the bathroom.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
We have been using the fan but only after flushing to try and get the smell out.
