Entry door glass replacement

The DW aka The War Department wants me to replace the clear textured glass in both entry doors with a tinted glass that allows you too see out but obviously not in. The purpose is to have more outdoor vision on the curb side. I realize that it would have to be tempered or automotive grade. Has anyone else here done this?

Thanks, BOWWOW.

I have not done this mod yet, but I'm planning on it. The camping world web site has the install kits with an installation video that you can watch to get the basic idea of what's involved. It looks pretty easy.

Yes I have replaced the glass in the door with 1/8" grey tempered glass which was the best upgrade so far as it gives you a great view out the door.
The only down fall is that at night time you are able to see in as there is no more privacy
as you do with the obscure glass. The removal of the old glass is very easy-
remove the interior trim ring
remove the glass
use clear silicon to set the new glass and then set the glass and reinstall the interior
trim ring
To get the proper size, just remove trim ring and measure the old glass
If you need to make it more private you can always install some limo tint
Good luck

Thanks guys. I sure was overthinking that one. There is a glass shop not far away that will cut a tempered piece and tint it the way the DW wants it. I will be doing both entry doors this weekend for under $120
Thank you.

We replaced our bathroom-look window with an EdWin. It took about an hour to install - easy. We really like it, but like any other tinted window, you can still see in at night. Someone needs to sell one with a built-in sliding shade. That would be perfect.

I installed the Edwin window and I hung a shade in front of my rear door. In the front door I replaced the frosted glass with tempered glass. I hung a mini blind in front of that one. I prefer the mini blind.

If the tint doesn't work out like I want it to we will do the mini blind, that is what is on some of the other windows.
Thank again, BOWWOW.

No matter which way you go, or what you decide for glass, it is a very easy 15 minute change over. A few screws and you are done. All it needs is a rectangle cut of glass.

What a difference that tinted glass makes. It matches the existing glass and we can see out of both doors now. The glass was $78 and 2 blinds at the hardware store was $18. It's like having 2 new windows. Thanks for your ideas!

I replaced my frosted glass door window with tempered tinted glass for about $25. I much prefer to see out. I screwed two little spring clamps to the door frame so we can hang a towel up for privacy when we want it.
