Furnace ON- ??AC unit fan ON?

On my 318SAB, while up in Maine, turned on the furnace (got cold at night), and the FAN from my AC unit went on as well. The compressor did NOT go on, only the fan. I'm back in Jersey and just tested it. SAME THING happened. I KNOW only the fan and not the compressor went on because I have a Progressive device in line and watched the power draw.

I don't remember that happening before.
Not Normal....... is it?

Has anyone else had this issue?

Phil

I have a very low-tech thermostat.
There are 4 functions. FAN, AC, Furnace, and OFF

FAN ONLY:
With the thermostat off, pressing the function button once selects the fan. Then with plus and minus buttons, you can select Hi Fan or Low Fan.

AC:
With thermostat off, pressing the Function button twice selects AC. Both Fan and compressor go on. The Plus and Minus buttons here allow you to set a temperature.

Furnace:
With the thermostat off, pressing the Function button three times selects the Furnace. The plus and minus buttons here allow you to select a temperature as well.

PRESSING THE FUNCTION BUTTON a fourth time and whatever system was on, goes off.

I HAVE NO AUTOMATIC function.

Stupid phil

Well, OK, As it turns out, I DO have an Auto mode.

Hank, as I get older, I seem to get dumber!!

So, after selecting FAN, I then use the plus and minus buttons to select the auto mode (AU).

Then, when going to furnace mode, the Fan does NOT go on.

Holy Moly, what is going to happen in a few years when I'm even older??

Hank, thanks for your input. And thanks for the welcome back to Jersey sentiment.

Regards,
Phil

You are not alone. Every day I start to believe in the "Here After". I walk into a room and I ask myself "Why am I here and what am I after??"
Glad you have your heat working correctly, Hank

Your thermostat sounds more high tech than mine. I have to set the temp with the old timey slider that is about 10 degrees off

Wow! 10 degrees off. That is alot. Maybe there is a replacement/upgrade you can get. Have you looked into that?

Phil
