Personally, I don't know how a slide out drawer will maximize storage space. The drawer takes up space, you have to build them up high enough to clear the door opening so you lose a few inches on the bottom, and anything you load will need to be low enough to clear the top of the door when you slide it out as well as narrow enough. I do agree that it would be convenient and easier.
Obviously many class A motorhomes have the drawers and you could probably buy a system that will work for your TH, at a very hefty price I'm sure. My recommendation would be a welded frame/base with angle iron guides for rollers. A thin sheet metal drawer (drawer framed with angle iron or square tubing) set on rollers with locking pins to keep it in place during travel. To me that would be the easiest solution.
