Will an old dog learn new tricks
Hello,
I've been lurking for a month or so and have been impressed with the great advice offered here. I thought I would sign up so I can ask questions when needed and maybe chime in when my knowledge from a previous life might apply.
My wife and I decided to try the RV life in retirement. We love to be outside and the summers here are pleasant. We rented a couple travel trailers last year and those experiences really helped our decision. But I soon realized I needed a real tow vehicle to handle the sort of trailer we would use and enjoy. I traded in my beloved Tacoma when I found a nice low mileage 2014 Ram 2500.
Well nice used RVs are fairly scarce these days. Then we found a nice 2016 Bullet Bunkhouse at a local dealer. Negotiated a price so we still had the budget for new tires that we selected. First trip was to the tire shop for a set of Goodyear Endurance and sized up to 215-75-14s (replaced the trailer kings made in 2015- yikes). Next trip was to my buddy's place to repack the wheel bearings and adjust the brakes.
Now comes tuning the details. I'm going to need a new awing fabric soon. Will likely need to work on the short queen mattress and want to add something to make the bunks more comfortable. I want to touch up a few concerns on the roof. I'm afraid the tongue jack might have a loose wire - it's been balking some times.
I bought a Champion 2500 dual fuel generator so I can have power at the storage lot. I think I'm set on the water and waste lines thanks to information here. Waiting for sustained warm weather before I fill the water systems (supposed to get to 15 degrees tonight). I'm sure I'll need some advice as I get deeper into things.

Congrats on your purchase. We will be more than happy to help you as you deal with any issues or projects that come up. Get the roof fixed ASAP as leaks are the number one issue that ruins an RV in short order.
Your roof is most likely white, so get 4 tubes of self leveling Dicor and put a layer over ANY suspicious seam.

Congrats on the purchase of that Bullet!
As Chuckster alluded to, tend to the roof as your first priority. Water intrusion is a RV's worst enemy.

Welcome, and good job IDing those old tires and replacing them right away. As you known or will learn many items need close inspection and repair or replace on RVs to be working right or for safety.
Tires/wheels, brakes and bearings are really important and most often overlooked. Get a TPMS system as soon as you can. They are worth every penny in prevention of a blow out and damage to the trailer.

Welcome from your friends to the west. One thing with an RV, you won't be without things to keep you busy. Whether it's traveling, upgrading or maintaining your outfit you'll find plenty of information on this forum.
BTW, we love traveling and sightseeing in Colorado!

I will get that Dicor on order and touch up that seam pronto. Great advice! I'll also get on that black caulking on the slide.
