Stabilizers

Do the scissor jack stabilizers work best kept short or extended out more ?

Thanks Jerry

The farther you extend them the less stability they provide. Most people use blocks under them and only extend them less than "half way" when possible.

We put are extra linx levelers under the corners after we have leveled side to side. We generally have the extended 1/4 to 1/2.

They may be heavy but I carry 6 x 6 treated deck post cut into 12" sections. These work real well at rear scissors. I also installed a set of Bal locking stabilizer bars on my rear scissors. Males them essentially movement free.

The lynx levelers are plastic and have some give. Use wood blocks they do not give like the plastic made in China junk.

I was able to pick up a treated 8' 6x2 at home depot for about $3.00. In the lumber section ask if they have any "warped" boards - they are usually 70% off. I had it cut in to 1' sections for stabilizing blocks.

I've used them since 2009 and have not found them to have any "give". Even with my previous fiver (Jayco 323RKS) weighing in at about 12,000 lbs. Under the tires for side to side and under the rear stabs.

I seen a guy last weekend adjust them and marked them with chalk. He came back later and check them.

Anyone know what he was doing or looking for?

Not sure but sounds like a case of paranoia to me.

Howdy,

I use some 1/2 concrete blocks (bought them that way),
I place them with the hole up (they are stronger that way
ask a mason), and cover them with a 10" length of 2"X6",
no problems
