Lombard St San Francisco. First major road trip after retiring in 2006. In 1965 while in USCG boot camp in Alameda I went to Navy fire fighting school for a week at Treasure Island in the distance view to the left in the top picture.

What a nice clear day. Is that Treasure Island in the background?

Linda and I lived in Oakland for a year, 59&60.

Treasure Island was my very first stop at a naval installation out of boot camp. It was March of 1957 and still very cold there until midday. I was there for two weeks waiting for transportation to my first duty station at NAS Barbers Point on the island of Oahu, TH.

Yes Cal that is TI and I edited the post to say I went to Navy fire fighting school there while in USCG boot camp in Alameda. Chris

Lake Okeechobee, FL

One of the premier fresh water fishing sites in Florida.

Shallow draft boats can cross the lake from the Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico.

On our day to go to town (Sunday) we found the streets in Philadelphia very easy to drive, shutter-bug and rubber-neck.

Sunday, yes. Friday or Saturday night on South Street, not so much.

Champlain, NY

When traveling north on US-11 and entering Champlain, NY, it’s going to take you right through downtown all the way to the waterfront. To get into Vermont you have to cross the bridge in the background of these pictures.

You must mean the I-405. Skirball and Getty center are along the 405 (sometimes referred to as the 4 or 5 referring to the top speed during rush hour. I don't miss that place one bit.

Just this past week-end DW and I spotted the seldom seen 'fairy ring' just outside Shiloh Military Park. Remember the ring in the end of 'Where the red fern grows?'

Wow... you just brought back some serious memories of that book. Haven't gone there in decades. Great story.

I'm not sure where this trucker found the time (and money) to light up his rig like this, but it looked like an early Christmas. US 40 and US 53, Bloomer, Wisconsin.

Boulder City, NV

The Hacienda Hotel & Casino have an address in Boulder City, NV. However, the Hacienda is located on US-93 but is not within the incorporated city limits where gambling has long been prohibited.

It’s just a short drive to the Lake Mead recreational lands where there is a CG for all types of campers from tents to FHU RV parking.

Cracker Barrel

One day when pulling into a Cracker Barrel for lunch this rig was leaving. I had just enough time to get out and take this picture. It's the only one I got but came-out pretty clear.
