TV sway bar

My truck did not come from the factory with a rear sway bar. I have noticed that the rear of the truck tends to move side to side quite a bit and doesn't feel as stable as the old truck. Current hitch set up is distribution bars with a friction bar for trailer sway control. Will adding an aftermarket sway bar gain me anything?

Just my opinion, and see what others have to say, but I don't think a friction sway control is enough for that size of trailer. I think if you look into the friction sway control they recommend at least 2 of them for trailers over 25' in length. If it were me, I'd spend the money on a Reese Dual Cam or a an equalizer hitch system. I have the Reese Dual cam and it works great.

I should have mentioned, I will be upgrading to one of the two or maybe an Arrow. Just looking for opinions on whether adding a rear sway bar (probably a Helwig) is worth it.

No. The Hensley or the DC will stop all sway caused by the trailer.

If the truck sways without the trailer, then you have a different problem.

FWIW, factory sway bars for trucks were never intended to deal with sway issues caused by trailers, let alone large trailers like yours.

Does anyone know if the Reese round bars will fit in an Eaz Lift WD Hitch?

I have a long bed four door (gasser) Chevy 2500 and tow a 32 footer (35.5 overall)
I have the E2 from Equalizer, it is the combo Sway control and WD hitch in one. I don't have any sway. Infact I was suprised how well the combo worked. How much sway do you have?

Is your truck lifted? Looks like it in the photos.

My truck is leveled 2.5". I have a drop hitch so everything with the current set up is set correctly. After doing some more reading today I think I am asking too much from the single friction bar. Most of my sway seems to happen on curves at highway speed (60-65). Seems to act fine under braking and only minimally when passing the big trucks. I am going to look into getting Reese round bars and the dual cam set up since I forgot that I had a Reese hitch in the garage so I will be able to sell the complete Eaz Lift WD hitch.

I put a Hellwig sway bar on the rear of my 2000 Ram 1500. It made a big diference in handling both loaded and empty. It was well worth it for me. The truck cornered with little or no body roll. Big improvement in the truck. It won't prevent trailer sway however. The Reese Dual Cam will.

The op asked the question, but nobody answered. Are you able to use the reese dual cam sway system with eaz lift hitches and round bars.

The round bars that I found from Reese did not fit. The ends that go into the hitch are slightly different. I found a complete setup on craigslist that was hardly used. for $125. Sold my Eaz-Lift setup for $150.

For any future searches, I have added a Hellwig Big Wig rear sway bar and the truck is much more stable. Towing with the DC and heavy rear sway bar is effortless even with heavy side winds.

I don't think so. I looked for quite a while before deciding to switch out the head and bars. The problem is the end that goes into the hitch. If you go on ehitch.com you can zoom in and look at the profiles of each bar.

Well part of your sway may be trailer induced I think the other part has to do with your lift and tires.
Wide tall tires and mudder tread will not be as stable as stock size M/S tires, even if they are E rated.

Oh I realize that. After adding the DC hitch setup I can't complain. I think the single friction bar that I was using wasn't up for the trailer length. The rear sway bar has been great both towing and empty since my truck did not come with one stock. We are moving to Albuquerque, NM in May. Stock tires will be back on for that trip.
