Exterior Grab Handle position during towing
I typically put my exterior grab handle back. I do this so that it doesn't rub and leave a mark on the door. I noticed that the dealer folds it forward onto the door. What does everyone else do with the grab handle?

Awning arm on our TT prevents it being orientated towards the rear, so it goes forward across the door. I have not noticed any rub marks since it clears the door.

I fold mine fwd against door. One more thing to keep the door from accidentally popping open during travel. No rub marks

we used to always fold the handle toward the rear of the coach. After reading about dead bolts jamming/breaking during travel, we no longer lock the dead bolt during travel. We now fold the handle forward to help secure the door. Noticed a mark on the handle from the paddle latch - some vinyl electrical tape fixed that problem. However, I don't know how well the handle will secure the door during travel. It doesn't require much force to extend the handle even without lifting it out of the slot.

I fold ours forward over the door. In our travels, I have found a couple of times there's been enough flex in the sidewalls of the camper that without the deadbolt locked, but the handle forward over the door, the door has unlatched and the handle kept it from fully opening. So, that's how it travels all the time. And, we also keep the deadbolt locked now to help.

I literally pray for the day that the position of my door grab handle is what pushes me toward posting on this site. When we go from the front cap falling off, the roof leaking buckets and the black tank backing up, these are the problems we all dream of.....

Fwd against the doors. Awning won't let the rear fold back.

Have always folded the grab handle across the door but on this trailer there is no other option as the awning makes it impossible to do otherwise.

Across the door, for all of the reasons mentioned. I actually had to flag some people down when they were leaving a gas station because their door had opened. It was swinging back and forth slamming against the side of the RV, I can't believe they didn't hear it. The handle across the door would have prevented that.

Folded mine against the door once and the black mark is still there. I fold it back. No idea why it leaves a mark on the door and not the trailer wall, but the mark bugs me.

Have never had a mark on 3 different trailers, my dad folds his over the door as well and never had a mark. Makes me wonder about the material on your handle.

Fold over the door, never had black marks that I know of.
Black streaks down the sides, yes!

Not to be a smarty pants, but I would rather deal with black marks than the alternative of the door flying open.

If the position of the hand rail causes this much anxiety, you have way too much time on your hands.

I have just always naturally put it across the door. Never thought of black marks. Of course, the 2nd door does not have anything to help keep it closed but so far, no issues with the door opening.

I looked at mine today. The handle doesn't even hit the door. If it did that would mean it was keeping the door from opening. I added one of the big handles to the 2nd door on mine.

It doesn't cause me any anxiety, but I do have a lot of time on my hands
