Which Hitch and how much is enough...

I've been sifting thru 5th wheel hitch info and the more I read the more I
I have a 2007 dodge 3500 dually. It already has a B&W turnover ball gooseneck installed. The 5ver I'm planning for is a Montana 3455sa, delivery weight+carrying cap=15,600. Add to that a swivelwheel trailer and Honda goldwing and the total comes in at 17,000 pounds. B&W makes an 18K hitch that ties into the gooseneck. I'm not sure about a hitch in a hitch. Anyone have any experience with this? Is 18K enough or is there a "fudge factor"? And if not the B&W, then what?

I hear great reviews out of the B&W Companion hitch. I just purchased the B&W Patriot hitch, as I already had the rails in the truck, and my gooseneck ball is welded to a thick piece of steel under the bed.

I have only towed with it once, and still adjusting, but it does hook up much nicer than any other hitch I have used.

Andersen makes a gooseneck adaptor hitch that works really well and is rated at 24,000 lbs. http://www.andersenhitches.com/Produ...k-version.aspx

Hey guys
Read a post the other day about different kind of hitches that were being used to pull trailers behind 5th wheels safely. one thing to think about that they mentioned was that most 5th wheel manufactures will not warranty their hitch on the 5th if something happens to the hitch while pulling more than what the hitch is rated for on the rear of the camper so pay close attention to the weight you pull behind your camper. truck can handle it but the 5th wheel hitch want??????????

I've decided to use the Companion Hitch. I've heard nothing but good about them and like the idea of an obstruction free bed if it is needed.
Thanks for the thoughts and advice.
