Question Shore power makes battery hot.

Hi, I'm new to RVing. Have small 30amp rv. Seems that when it's connected to shore power the battery gets hot and it cooks all the water out of the cells. When on shore power everything works, lights, AC Frig, Hot H2O heater.
When not connected to 30amp shore power nothing works & battery is dead.
I hate to install a new battery just to have it get ruined when I connect it to shore power.
Could something be wrong with the inverter? Is there any way I can check the inverter?

Help.

Obviously your battery needs to be replaced. Continued use could damage the converter. How old is the battery? How has it been used, i.e. has it been totally discharged or deeply discharged several times in the past? Typically when converters fail they stop charging and not overcharge.

Welcome to the forum

As stated, you need a new battery. Before installing, plug into shore power and using a Volt/Ohm meter test the voltage at the battery leads. Your looking for 13.2VDC to 14.1VDC, any more and your converter is cooking the battery.
