I torque when I change/remove a wheel/tire, then again about 50-100 miles later (when it's convenient to stop in a rest area, etc) then I don't check until I suspect a problem or the beginning of the next season. I used to check torque every morning before towing, then changed that to retorquing at the start of every trip, and have "worked up to this regimen"... For me, it's probably still "overkill" to check every spring, but after freezing/thawing in storage for 6 months, I just feel better checking.... Then again, I've never found a "loose lug" in one of the "spring checks", so..... YMMV
