residential refrigerator

Any experienced RVer's with Residential Frig onboard? Concerned that it may be more hassle to maintain on battery power. Please share.

A quick search here will reveal more threads than you you can read on one cup of coffee. Lots of variables will determine performance:

Number of batteries, size of batteries. Method of charging, what other draws on the batteries. Are you asking about a specific fridge and battery set up?

A year ago we moved to the res fridge; would not change that decision. But, the question is how you camp. We stay in improved campgrounds with power always; we no longer boondock. If you want to boondock or stay off grid the last thing I would want would be a res fridge.

Our opinion mirrors Danny's to a T. We would never go back to propane because we don't boondock. And it works like a champ on the road.

Just traded our 2014 Cougar 28RLS for a 2021 Montana High Country 295RL. 18 cf residential fridge. Has a 2000 watt inverter to run fridge while in transit. Love it. We don't boondock so works for us fine.

We mostly boondock but do not yet have a robust solar electrical system.

Based on our camping style I would NOT want electrical refrigeration. Propane is more efficient for our current needs.

So really it boils to camping style and then how robust your electrical system is.

If I do change my refrigeration to electrical I will be looking at 12 volt compressor driven option as Inverting to 120 Volt has losses as well. We are weekenders that often dry camp.
