Is there a good after market thermostat for furnace and AC which has digial read out allowing you to better set the thermostat? Would like something which can simply switch out with the current one...needing no new wiring etc.

Search on hunter rv thermostat on here and other RV forums and on google or other search engine. The Hunter is inexpensive, readily available, and very easy to wire in place of the standard Dometic ones.

There are all kinds of sites with instructions for this and it is very easy to do.

Hint: I did this and never bothered to add the HI/LO fan switch. Since there is a single AC for our 36' fiver, I just let it run on LO all the time. Keeps the trailer plenty cool. (Might be an issue in the southern states, tho.)

Most certainly! Most home thermostats can be used in a trailer, but you’ll be relying on the AA batteries in the thermostat for the thermostat to work.

Our new Passport came with a digital thermostat standard. But I did the digital mod on ur previous rig (Rockwood hybrid). I used the same link that Steve provided above and it was super easy!

I trust these with my house also.

I did this upgrade this weekend while out camping quick and easy, just be sure to get it programed correctly. Default night setting on the Hunter I used was 60 degrees.

I expect the batteries to last at least a year. I will just replace along with the smoke and CD batteries.
