Portable Fryer

Caught some fish today and decided to fry it instead of grilling. Did it in a pan on the stove.....never again. It will take DW an hour to clean this mess

I'm considering purchasing a small portable fryer. Propane or electric. Any recommendations?

We use a large Fry Daddy when we're cooking just for us...

But we also have a large propane turkey fryer/boiling pot that we do large fish fries and Cajun boils with..

We've got a "fish fryer" that is essentially a "glorified jet burner". We use it at home, but it's too big to haul along for occasional use. We have a Coleman camp stove that we use for frying fish, just set it up on the picnic table, well away from the trailer and especially not under the awning. Except on very windy days, it does a great job.

DW has one of the new "air fryers" that we use at home, it might be adaptable to RV use, but it's a 1500 watt unit, something that would require the generator or a separate power source (our trailer is 30 amps) so between being "too large to pack away easily" and the power requirements, we'll probably never use it in the RV.

We never EVER fry inside the trailer, between the confined space, the "fish smell" and the complete mess it makes, it's just not worth it. We don't fry inside at home either, BTW.

So far, we're happy with the Coleman camp stove, an old large frying pan and enough peanut oil to do the job. Yup, we also still use brown paper bags to drain the grease (shhhh don't tell anybody)

We use the Coleman Nextrip? stove with the rolling stand for some of our stuff - grills/coils for pots/griddles. I also use 2 induction cookers that we put on the camping table to cook with - which are WAY handy. We do all frying outside - never inside, which sometimes is really unhandy this time of year because I love bacon I used to actually use a charcoal grill for not only grilling but cooking over but got tired of the mess and uncontrollable heat. We stay here this time of year where fresh fish is everywhere and love it most anyway you can cook it so you have to be prepared. We have all kinds of electric deep fryers at home but DW said she wasn't going to mess with them in the RV......so I've adapted
