Automatic Transfer Switch
I bought a 2010 Fuzion 405 and need to replace the automatic transfer switch and want to know what is the best brand to buy. I have a WFCO WF-T57 installed in it now and it has a manufacture date 6/2013. Doesn't look like this one lasted very long so I'm thinking about getting another brand.
Also does anyone know if there could be something wrong in the system that caused this one to fail so soon.
Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis-
I believe Keystone issued a recall on certain models of transfer switches. If you do a forum search on "transfer switch" you should find out more information about this topic as it has been discussed on here previously. Also, visit the Keystone website and go to the Customer Service link ---->>> Recalls.

Go to the Keystone website, Customer Service, Recalls and Notifications, Fuzion and you'll see several recalls regarding the transfer switch.
http://www.keystonerv.com/customer-s...-notifications
Read them carefully. If I recall correctly, we have one or two members who have had significant loss from fires regarding the transfer switches. There is documentation on the forum as Festus2 indicated, and there is information on the Keystone corporate website.
Caution is your best friend in this situation. Don't risk loss of your RV to fire from a "known defective switch".... Good Luck

If I were in need to replace a transfer switch, I would investigate replacing it with one that has surge protection/EMS. Think Surge Guard makes one. Not sure exactly which segment the surge protection sits on (shore, generator, both)

You really don't have much choice on a recall. So buy the surge protector separate. And why would you put all of your eggs in one basket.

I agree if a recall FREE is GOOD Did not realize it was determined OP transfer switch was involved in a recall.

I could of had mine done by recall as well but bought the surge guard ATS/Surge Protector. I installed it myself. It was very install and very happy with the consolidation of the two components.

PULLN, Since you purchased and installed a transfer switch with surge protection have a question. Which leg does the internal surge protector protect shore, generator or both.

Both. The install instructions were fantastic but take picks of the original and try not to cut a lot of the wire as you never know how much slack you will need.

Thanks for the replies. I called a dealer and he checked the VIN and showed that it didn't have the recall done. So it looks like the PO had replaced the switch on his own since it has a manufacture date on it 6/2013.
