Slide out manual override-cable system
I have a Passport 2520rl. I cannot get the flex-tool that came with the trailer to fit in the motor receptacle. It’s a 40” reach above the slide to the motor so I have to use an extension. I can’t see it up close. I haven’t needed it but want to be prepared in case I do.

As long as you know where the motor is, the tool inserts at the rear IN THE CENTER of the motor housing, you may be able to d it by "feel", If not some applications require the removal of the facia.

Good idea to be prepared. Guessing you have the Lippert Accuslide. I found on ours I need to remove the facia on the top of the slide room. That allows me easy access to reach the motor as well as do any cable adjustments. A step stool helps too.

Not to be picky on a Sunday morning, but Accuslide isn't a Lippert product. Its a Norco (BAL) product...Unless Lippert bought them out too

Agree with Canonman. I pulled all the facia off, it is stapled on, and then screwed it back so that I can now easily access the motor when and if I need to. And as Canonman stated having a step stool is invaluable. It also makes doing a regular maintenance of your cable tension a snap.

I can see the receptacle in the center of the motor and have tried too feel it in. Are their different size receptacles/tools? This shouldn’t be that hard.

The flexible shaft with the tool at the end should be universal. IIRC its just about the same size as a #2 Roberts head.

Good catch. My error in applying Lippert as the manufacturer. Indeed it is Norco, Bal.

Not to be negative, but the cable to move the slide if it fails is the last thing to worry about if the slide fails. The week link on the Bal slide is the gear box. If that fails your screwed. That cable only works if the motor fails. I have had 2 gear boxs quit and the only way to get the slide to work then is to remove the chains from gear box and push slide in or out. The gear box is junk. Like I said I have had to replace 2 so far on my 2014 Outback. I know of 3 other owners that they have had the same problem. I don't believe Keystone has changed or update their slide workings in there newer models. It's a crapshoot if the slide will work or not with no warning. I wish they had a update on there slides. I'm ready to give up on Keystone and go elsewhere, JAYCO, Grand Design. A company that does not use the Bal slide

I believe they make several different motor/gearboxes for different size slides. What size is your slide? Can you put a larger motor on it?
OP,
The flex tool that came with mine is a 1/4" hex drive, just like you would use for a screw bit. You can get adapters to use a ratchet, then use whatever 1/4" drive extensions you need to reach it. If the problem is that the tool wont go on the shaft then this seems like a different problem.

No I believe the gear box is the same on all slides. I have had the bedroom closet slide and the large slide in the livingroom fail
