Tankless install problem

Hello!
We are installing a Furrion tankless water heater into a 2017 Kodiak Ultimate travel trailer with an in command pro center... replacing a 6 gallon Atwood. We got the old heater out, no problem. We've installed the new water heater and capped the wires from the In Command module. All that is connected is a black and white 12v dc wires and the wall temp controls. The issue is we keep blowing fuses when we try to try to turn the unit on. We have not gotten power to the wall controller at all. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum

Since your only connecting the 12V wires, I would check to make sure the polarity is correct, and you haven’t inadvertently crushed a wire or two.

I think we've figured out some of the issue.. my partner didn't realize it was 120v ac coming in, not 12v dc. Any idea on how to convert that? It was an Atwood 6 gallon that we had.. the 120v came into a relay. We're kind of dumbfounded at this point..

If your trying to convert 120 volt ac to 12 volt dc you need a transformer to convert it ,It may be easier and safer to disconnect that original 120 ac from the circuit breaker and orphan it and run a new 12 volt wire with fuse to the water heater location....if your trying to convert the 12 volt dc to 120 volt ac then that is a problem....you wouldn’t be able to safely attempt that and the wires terminate in different locations anyway..(120 going to converter location and 12 volt going to battery location).
Looking at the furrian schematic it is indeed 12 volt dc that you need...I would run a new wire from the battery to the water heater location and fuse it accordingly close to the battery. May be able to run it under the trailer if protected from the elements and road hazards

If you have an open fuse on the DC panel, you could run the wiring in the underbelly with the rest of the “spaghetti”

If your old water heater is like mine, the relay has a 12vdc coil that allowed you to turn on the 120vac to the electric element in the old water heater. You should be able to utilize the 12vdc coil circuit to supply power for control to your new tankless water heater I would think.
