On most RV's, it IS NOT a matter of any "standard tank organization process"...
On most trailers, it IS a matter of which wire the line worker wired to which terminal on the monitor panel..
In other words, your "gray 1" may be in the same place as my "gray 2" and if the two were assembled on the line, directly one after the other, there's still a 50:50 chance that they'd be the same "gray 1/gray 2" relationship... That means, at least to me, that there's also a 50:50 chance of a "gray 2/gray 1" relationship.....
That said, the way to know what sink or shower drains into what gray tank is to check YOUR trailer. Empty BOTH gray tanks, then turn on the bathroom shower/tub and let it run for 4 or 5 minutes. Pull the drain and see which handle "drains the tub tank"... Then, start over with empty tanks, run the bathroom sink for 4 or 5 minutes. Pull that same handle to verify that the tub AND sink both drain into the same tank...
Next, start (again) with all tanks empty, run the kitchen sink for 4 or 5 minutes, go outside and verify which drain handle empties the tank for the kitchen sink. Hopefully it's "the other gray tank handle"....
That will document for you, two things. What drains into each tank and which handle empties which tank....
Then, with that knowledge, go back inside and start filling the bathroom tank. After several minutes, press the "tank 1" button on the monitor panel. It should illuminate 1 or maybe 2 LED's. If so, then tank 1 is the bathroom tank. If the LED's illuminate on "tank 2" then tank 2 is the bathroom tank...
There is, IMHO, no "rhyme nor reason" as to which wire is connected to which terminal on the display monitor panel. You may have the same wiring or just as easily, yours may be exactly opposite from the trailer build before or after it as they went down the line......
As President Reagan said so explicitly: Trust but verify.....
