Any other pellet cookers on board?

I've been smoking food for almost two years with a traeger pellet grill. I plan on doing some dry camping, love low and slow barbeque. Was wondering if anyone else does the same when they're out on weekends. Any invertor or generator advise or ideas? I suppose I could just drag around a weber smokey mountain, they're just bulkey.

I take my Cobb smoker with me - light, compact. Great for small stuff.
If you are looking for advice on invertors and/or generators, try starting a new thread in the Mods and Upgrades section of the forum.

Yeah right. Just food grade wood pellets. Can't beat the flavours when you cook with a wood fire.

XL Big Green Egg here but its way to big to move. I've been thinking about getting a mini egg for the trailer. Nothing beats a steak cooked with lump charcoal.

Another GOSM smoker here, but I don't drag it around with us on camping trips.

I have been looking at buying one for a couple years now. Was looking at this as my main grill will be my Weber but wanted something compact so the deck still had room to move.

I like the looks of the portable one. I just don't see fitting a brisket or butt on it. I want to see one in person before buying one.

Jables, Howdy;

I built one of the following;

http://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?2254...ini-WSM-Smoker

from a Smokey Joe Silver (SJS), this past Summer.
I've cooked a 9.5 lb. Pork Shoulder (Boston Butt, bone in), in it with some room left over.
It all fits into the stock pot (except for the SJS), and rides comfortably in the
basement storage. With some Craycort cast iron grates it grills even better
and I us them to help with the heat sink.

I have a Char Griller Kamado style grill. It was much cheaper than the ceramics and much lighter. I have had it for three years and can cook for 15 hours on a single chimney of fuel. With it being relatively light, I put it in the bed of the TV and take it with me camping. It is top heavy, so I have to tie it down really well.

Here is a link to it at Lowes:

I picked up a Traeger Grill and these are awesome, so easy to use. You can slow cook or turn it up and get'r done just as fast as charcoal/gas bbq. Just did some bacon wrapped shrimp for some friends and it was a hit! Chicken done in about 20-30 mins. Now I am going to get the Traeger PTG for camping!

Will checkout the Traeger. Right now using a Weber Baby Q for a quick, convenient cook. Properly seasoned, it does a decent job, even though gas.

For smoking, we use a Cookshack electric smoker. Its insulated, so it works well regardless of the ambient temperature.

I use a Louisiana grill, and Bear Mountian pellets. Lost count of how many racks of ribs over the years. Did a 15 1/2 LB turkey last weekend.
