300mp third axle

Call me crazy but how big of a pita would it be to add the 3rd axle to a 2013 300mp? My current set up empty pin weight is 3180lbs, i realize this is without garage loaded up to offset pin weight, but i wont always travel with toys in the back, looks like different fender skirts (plastic) to accomodate, axle, springs, two tires and wheels and replumb/move two hydraulic leveling jacks. I know this trailer is designed for an optimum weight when loaded yet how often if ever have you seen a 35' flatbed trailer with 2 axles? yeah me either

just measured to step entry, will interfere by a few inches, so now i guess add a 300 gallon tank behind axles to drain when garage is loaded

I was kinda thinking the same thing. What ratings are the axles now?

the axles are rated at 14000lbs together, right now it weighs empty at 10000 on the trailer axles and 3180 on pin Id be happy to shed 500lbs pin weight.

I vote it would be a royal PITA. The axles need to move forward to relieve tongue weight. I personally think tongue weight is a good thing, but opinions are like eye balls; we all have them. I have to assume that your D-Max is saddled in a 3/4 ton truck. If that's the case trade up to a fat fender. I am biased to duallies! I am also partial to 2 axles because of tire wear. I think the set up is just fine and you just need more toys to counter balance the coach.

I just looked at specs, shows 2680 tounge weight on a 300mp. Is the number your posting what it is on the scales? If so wow what a difference

Talking

This is on a 2013 velocity model, weighed on a cat scale. My understanding is the posted pin weight is before any options such as generator etc. And yes bagged 3/4 d/a. I can't stand the looks of any duallie, but understand as well what they are built for, truck payment free tho and intend to keep it that way. 500 mile radius from home is the very farthest we will go at this time as well. On another note wouldn't sliding trailer axles be fantastic, about two foot max adjustment to load would be outstanding, yep I'm dreaming but I can wish.

I know this has been beaten to death in the RV forums, but isn't a 3/4 ton truck grossly over weight with 3400# of tongue weight. You are obviously a Chevy man and I think their duallies are quite ugly; My father has one. I think you are good to go. Just keep it under 75 mph and load the heck out it cause your Duramax is begging to be exercised! Sliding axles would be genius, but the big problem with that is Lippert Components would be the manufacturer. I think we all know the quality or lack of quality from LCI.

Wow. My pin weight last weekend was 2460 lbs. with totally empty tanks and a full garage. Mine isn't a Velocity though so not sure what extra goodies you have.
Guess you're going to have to throw something back there...

Sliding axles! Great idea!!
