I've had excellent luck with the Autolite's double platinum plugs in this engine used in my '31 Ford:

WOW! I thought I did a good job detailing my old Mustangs for shows but never took the engines out for detailing. Seriously just kidding! BEAUTIFUL

If you haven't checked out the site, it's interesting. Since half of everything is made in China, you can buy direct through AliExpress. Some electronics are re-branded from the factory that makes the branded product.
The only catch is it can take awhile to get your order. My plugs aren't scheduled to arrive until next month. For that price, I can wait!

Just hope you are not getting Chinese knock-offs.

Some products are Chinese knockoffs, and others are not. For example, the factory that produces Canon lenses also makes the exact same lens under their own brand. I haven't ordered one, but side-by-side, they are identical, and some tests have found them optically identical.

Beautiful. Some room for improvement, though. Get a Bowtie smallblock.

Thanks guys. That SB Ford in the '31 is my other place to spend time (and a few bucks). I use Ford power since a Chebbie is like people's belly buttons - everybody has one plus a Ford in a Ford is right .
Now, back to the thread at hand. My reason for showing the photo was to point out that common brand name plugs, i.e. Autolite APP104 Double Platinum, work well, even in a performance situation. You don't need some esoteric specialty item for top performance.

In my gassers...Autolite Platinum. Been using Autolites since 1962 (even in the airplane) after going through the entire plug selection variety with mixed results.

Understandably, there were some doubts about this purchase, but I attached a photo of what arrived. The engine in my Kia is made by Hyundai and shared in the Genesis. The plugs came in OEM boxes containing the correct NGK plugs.

New plugs are in and the car still runs. No check engine light. It took about 45 minutes to change 7. The rear driver's side took an hour due to clearance issues.

Glad you got it all done.
How many extra words did you use on that last plug?

I'm sure he made up a few words too. I completed a 80k mile tune up on my GM small block V8 two years ago and spent about the same time removing the rear passenger's side plug. I started with it first as I knew it would be all downhill after that one. Just count your blessings that you don't own a Ford 5.4L V8 or 6.8L V10 from the mid-2000s. The "notorious" plug problem of snapping heads requires special tools and curse words to extract the remaining body. Dealers charge upward of $1000 to exact broken plugs. I'd rather deal with "hard to reach" plugs on a GM vehicle any day of the week.

Done those 2 piece plugs twice. V10 required use of tool on all 10 plugs. 4 hour ordeal.
Still have the special tool set from Napa. Next guy is gonna PAY for my experience.

All 10? Wow. I've heard of several breaking off in the block, but never all 8 or 10. Hope you charged him accordingly.

Yeah, and convinced him to replace them with 1 piece plugs @ $18.00/ea.

The one plug required removing a bracket that was attached to the back of the engine. You know, one of those bolts you can feel, but can't see. And the realization you've got to somehow return that bolt to its hidden location.
It was still easier than the rear plugs on a transverse V6.

The ones that require intake manifold removal can be a real PITA. There are a couple of GM vehicles that require removal of the upper motor mounts and then rotating the entire engine forward to access the back plugs.

Another interesting spark plug change was the 67/68 Mustangs with the 427 side oilers. Almost required removing the engine because of the tight shock towers. Disconnect the engine mounts and be careful not to lift too high for fear of crushing the firewall. And had to do them about every 5K miles. But yes you could burn the tires off!

Remember that when you are sitting on the side of the highway and others are passing you by.
