246rbs slide

Does the 246rbs have a manual slide override? If so, does anyone know where it is? I don't need it now but, if I do, then it would be nice to know where it is.

Thanks for any help.

Not sure about the 246rbs slide but on our 2014 28RLS it is directly across
the slide near the back door .
Ours has a 12" x12" cutout with screws holding access cover in place .
Hope this helps

I was told when I bought my 246RBS:confused there wasn't any and one is not needed. Sounds strange but.. I'll have to follow this one.

Yes, I am sure you have one and in case of failure of your slide mechanism (motor, pump, battery, etc.) a manual override is necessary.

If, for example, you are camping with slide(s) extended and you pack up to leave and your slides won't retract, you may have to resort to bringing them in manually. You can't go anywhere with them extended - you're stuck!

Some overrides are located inside the unit while others, like mine, are located in the underbelly - outside the RV.

You should find out where yours is located, the "tool" used to make it work, and what you need to do to move the slide.

The information that was told to you about not having or needing one is, I am certain, incorrect. If some slides on newer models are not able to be retracted or extended manually, I am not aware of this change.

246rbs slide

Ditto Festus2's reasoning. My dealer also told me that there was no manual override but did not say one was not needed. Looks like Keystone will be getting a call.

Thank you all for the replies.

I was told the same thing when we picked up our 28rdb a few weeks ago. Was told by the dealer there were no manual overrides anymore on the trailers. I don't think I totally believe them, but haven't gotten around to going over our trailer after watching the video on the manual slide override on the Keystone website so I have an idea what to look for.

The video explains my 246rbs bullet slide perfectly.

Is yours a cable slide? On my Bullet the slide is electric/cable. You can see the cables on the outside when the slide is open. The override is located on the motor mounted inside the trailer underneath the slide accessed by removing the panel located on the bottom of the sofa. What year/make is your TT? The 2011/12 Bullet 246rbs has the cable slides. The newer ones are different.

KJcachers -

The video shows a small, empty, mock slide out that has to be retracted manually due to a failure in the electronic override board. The single operator then proceeds to push the slide in "by hand". I am wondering if one person could push a larger slide in that is loaded with a couch, dinette or table and chairs, and overhead cupboards. Or a slide with appliances?

I would think that it would take at least a couple of adults to retract a "loaded" slide. It would seem that it would be much more than a one man/woman job.

When they talk about a "manual" override, they really mean it!

246rbs slide

That video supplied by bellsharbor shows a slide mechanism that looks like the one on my 2014 model - no cable but a metal strip with teeth that the motor's gears engage. Know what to look for now ... just in case. Thanks! This is a great help.

Yep, i would imagine you'll need help pushing the slide in. Also, make sure to release both ends and block it on the inside to keep it in place while motoring

I have a 251rbs which was the replacement for the 246rbs and the manual slide for mine is above the slide mounted to the TT wall. They gave me a flexible drill extension with a square drive bit that goes into the end of the slide motor and the you can use your drill to run the slide in or out. Be warned, the only way I could get to mine would be to remove some trim pieces at the top of the slide.
