lugnut caps on 2004 Springdale 296BGH

How does one get the plastic caps off the lugnuts on my 2004 springdale 296BGH. Is there some trick to this or a special tool.

I wish I knew. My dealer wisely left mine off, I can't even figure out how they go on short of pounding them on with a rubber mallet?

If they go on as mine do then you have to remove the wheel and the hub cover sticks through from behind the wheel center and the lip sandwiches between the wheel center and the drum when all the lug nuts are torqued back.

Sorry, I misread the first post, I was speaking of the hub cap, and I don't have lugnut caps on my trailer, maybe someone else who does will chime in.

After searching the internet I found out that some lugnut caps screw on like the lugnut does (don't know if your TT has this type), and some caps just pull off (with a wiggle and a pull) using a padded pliers that is made for this (seems like you can put a rag around a pair of pliers and do the same thing) the pad is so that you don't chew up the cap. Here's a picture of the special pliers that I have attached. hope this helps.

My wife had those on her Grand Prix and the screwed off. I usedthe lug wrench to loosen them. I cant remember if the were left or right threaded.

My 2004 Springdale has the white caps and they just pull off and push on with no problems. They are for looks anyway and serve no other purpose that I can see.

The main reason for the slide on caps is too prevent rust from accumulating on the threads of the wheel studs. They will also help to prevent rust built up inside the lug nuts. This is a low cost of protection for the wheel stud threads.

I was just thinking about this question Yesterday. Rummaging through the garage boxes I found the set (never put on) for our 2008 Springdale. Have a new Passport that did not come with them. I think I'll put them on the Passport to reduce the rust on threads.
Don't know If I will engineer a set of pliers...like you mechanics.
