Strange device on side of Sprinter
I have a recently purchased 2004 Sprinter 249 RKS. On each side, there are two small items that don't appear to do anything. They are about three inches long, 3/4" wide, and about 1/2" high. There is a spring loaded cover that opens up showing nothing. They must have been put there for something. Anybody have any idea what they are?

Basement???? I don't think so...don't even know what that could be. These are horizontal. You lift of the spring loaded cover and there is nothing there. There is nothing is the manual.... which I am finding to be common for a lot of things....

Open one of your storage compartments (basement) all the way and latch it open with this mystery devise. It will hold the door open while you load and unload. We where all "Newbes" at one time and we all had these questions.

if this answered your question, it took me a little to figure it out, and my wife still can't understand why you would need this. once you got it, it is really handy.

For the longest time I thought they were for some feature I didn't have or to hang something on. They do come in handy now that I know what they are for.
Nope, no manual. That's what all the ppl here are for
And remember, a picture is worth 1000 words

I hope this image thing works... If these thingys are to hold the doors to the storage compartments open, there must be some form of strap needed.

That is what it is..... Exactly as Hankpage showed.... l will check again when I get home. They look to high on my trailer for the compartment doors to reach without some form of strap. In any case.. the mystery is solved. Thanks all....

Well, as soon as I got home I checked to see if these clips were positioned to hold the compartment doors open. Success... not it seems so obvious. They are a great tool. They are flimsy so I will have to have a couple spares around now that I will use them. Thanks everybody.....
