Yes, I am sure you have one and in case of failure of your slide mechanism (motor, pump, battery, etc.) a manual override is necessary.
If, for example, you are camping with slide(s) extended and you pack up to leave and your slides won't retract, you may have to resort to bringing them in manually. You can't go anywhere with them extended - you're stuck!
Some overrides are located inside the unit while others, like mine, are located in the underbelly - outside the RV.
You should find out where yours is located, the "tool" used to make it work, and what you need to do to move the slide.
The information that was told to you about not having or needing one is, I am certain, incorrect. If some slides on newer models are not able to be retracted or extended manually, I am not aware of this change.
